How to Root and Flash a Custom ROM on HTC Desire HD

Today we gave you a brief step by step on how to root T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Amaze 4G which allows you to install root-only apps such as Titanium Backup. Now great news has come for HTC Desire HD users because an XDA Developer viperbjk has managed to S-OFF, root, and flash a custom ROM on your Desire HD handset.

IMPORTANT:-

THE PROCEDURE I AM GOING TO WRITE NOW IS ALL AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF IT GETS FAILED!!!!!

How to Root HTC Desire HD

1-   Download the aahk-15102011.zip from here.

2-   Extract the downloaded aahk-15102011.zip file.

3-   Download HTC Drivers from here and install it on your computer.

4-    Connect the device with computer via USB cable

5-   Enable USB Debugging option on your HTC Amaze 4G by going to Settings > Applications > Development.

6-   Run the hack-ace.cmd as Administrator and begin the process by typing “1″ and “Enter”.

7-   It will start the rooting process and will take about 5-6 minutes to complete.

How to Flash Custom Rom on HTC Desire HD

1-   Download The Custom ROM of your choice.

2-   Don’t extract the downloaded Custom Rom zip file and copy it to your device SD card.

3-   Rename the zip file to “update.zip”.

4-   Switch off your HTC Desire HD.

5-   Take of your device battery, reinstate it, and hold the volume down and power buttons. This will allow you to boot in the bootloader.

6-    As soon as you get in to bootloader, clear the cache, and select ‘install update from sdcard’ by using the volume buttons to navigate, and power button to make selections. This will start flashing Custom ROM in your device.

7-   Once the flashing process is completed, reboot your device and wait for 3-4 minutes to complete the reboot.

Thats it!!!! Now you have a fully rooted HTC Desire HD along with custom ROM installed.
