Following the release of the Mi5 earlier this year ,Xiaomi has disclosed the next flagship phones ,namely the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. The smartphones mostly feature all the expected updates that have been talked about , including a quicker processor and enhanced camera features ,however the most interesting new feature present in the phones is the ultrasonic fingerprint reader that can be found at the bottom of the smartphones, thereby creating a “seamless , button-free design” .
The sensor is said to boast Qualcomm’s Ultrasonic technology ,whereby making the process of scanning your fingers more efficient even when your fingers are wet or dirty, thereby you can expect more precision in the fingerprint readings in the smartphones.
The new phones are said to feature the new Snapdragon 821 processor which is an upgrade from the previous Mi 5 which featured the Snapdragon 820, and storage upto 128GB in addition to the Mi 5s having 4Gb of RAM and the Mi 5s Plus having as much as 6GB of RAM. The Mi 5s will feature a 12- megapixel camera which has the latest Sony CMOS image sensor, in addition to a 4K video recorder and dual-tone LED flash , in addition to these features the Mi 5s Plus features a dual -camera system. The new smartphones feature a metallic back casing while the previous Mi 5 featured a glass casing. The Mi 5s Plus features a 5.7 inch display and the Mi 5s features a 5.1 inch 1080 pixel display that has pressure sensor as well.
Chinese users can pre-order the smartphones as of 29th September, and can expect to pay 1,999yuan or US $300 for the Mi 5s which has 64GB storage in addition to 3GB RAM, and 2,299 Yuan or US $ 344 for the 128 GB storage and 4GB RAM model.
The Mi 5S Plus models start from 2,299 Yuan or US $ 344 for the 64GB storage and 4GB RAM model and the range goes upto 2,599 Yuan or US$ 390 for the for the 128GB storage 6GB RAM model.
