If you have iPhone and you are tired of using iOS then thanks to “Bootlace” who has made it possible to switch over from iOS to android OS without changing your favorite iPhone. Moreover, you can also set dual boot Android and iOS side-by-side on your iPhone in a few relatively simple steps.
Before we start the installation procedure, it is important to mention here that Bootlace is compatible with the following iPhones and iOS’ however it works best on iPhone 3G.
- iPhone 2G running iOS 3.1.2 and 3.1.3.
- iPhone 3G running iOS 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2 and 4.1.
In order to install Android Froyo on iPhone you must have your iPhone jailbroken. Bootlace 2.1 support following jailbreaking tools.
- PwnageTool
- Redsn0w
- Blackra1n
Once your iPhone is jailbroken you can proceed further with following steps.
1- In order to install the Bootlace Open Cydia, Go to Manage Tab select “Sources”. In sources Tap “Edit” and press “Add” button to add following source “http://repo.neonkoala.co.uk/”.
2- Go to Search Tab of Cydia, enter and select “Bootlace”. press the “Install” button and confirm to start the installation.
3- Once the Bootlace installation is finished, go to your home screen and click Bootlace to RUN it.
4- Bootlace will now download the kernel and patch it.
5- Tap the “Bootlace” icon on your SpringBoard and Press the OK button to close the welcome message.
6- Go to “OpeniBoot” Tab and press the “Install” button to start the installation as shown in the picture.
7- Once “OpeniBoot” is installed, Click on the “Configure” button. Here you can select your default boot operating system along with other boot options. Press the Save button when done.
8- Go to “iDroid” tab in the bottom row and Press the “Install” button to start the installation. It will download and install customized Android OS for your iPhone.
8- Once “iDroid” is installed on your iPhone then Go to “QuickBoot” Tab of “Bootlace” and Click on Android Logo “Holding an Apple”. You iPhone will now restart and boot in to Android.
That’s it you are now in to Android.
Android Usage Guide
Power Management is the main issue right now in 3G having Android on it. You will use iPhone’s lock button as the Android back button. The iPhone home button will act as the Android menu button. The iPhone’s volume down button acts as the Android home button. To lock the screen, press the iPhone’s home and lock buttons at the same time. To power off, hold the lock and home buttons for a couple of seconds until the Power Off prompt appears.
