There has been a lot of buzz about HP TouchPad for last few weeks since HP officially turned down WebOS and put TouchPad on 99$ Clearance. Since then lot of developers are working to get something big out of 99$ 1.2 GHz Dual Core device whether it be installation of Android 2.2.1 on HP TouchPad or installation of CynogenMod 7 on HP TouchPad and recently it one of the XDA Developer amirborna has successfully overclocked both of HP TouchPad Cores at 1.9 GHz each. Although at 1.9 GHz the device becomes a bit usable but 1.7 GHz is safe as well as stable on both cores without any issue.
The Developer claims that at 1.7 GHz overclocking the devices becomes more responsive without having any significant impact on the battery life as the voltage increase due to overclocking is slightly higher having no major impact. To over clock you device the procedure is simple but there is always risk involved. Some of the pros of overclocking HP TouchPad as expalined by the developer are,
- Relatively safe to do
- No noticeable effect on battery (stock usually pulls 550mah and 1.5ghz is pulling like 565mah.
- Touchpad becomes incredibly fast, fluid, responsive, and is a joy to use
- No heat created
- Overclocks both cores
- Feels like you have next generation hardware after the overclock
- Smooth like butter
