How to Download and Install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 0.5 on HP TouchPad [Tutorial]

Right after Google release the source code of Android Ice Cream Sandwich CyanogenMod Team announced that they have already started working on CyanogenMod 9 which will ultimately bring Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 on all supported devices. Now things have been further progressed as CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 0.5 for HP TouchPad has been released by the developers. Here is the list of new features added in the CM 9 Alpha 0.5 for HP Touhpad:

• The kernel should crash less often (which means you won’t see as many random reboots).
• A graphics bug that had been affecting some games has been fixed.
• There are touchscreen improvements which should allow you to tap rapidly on the screen.
• The tablet should now charge more quickly.
• You can use the web browser in incognito mode.
• CMStats is now included.

Whats Needed

Download below mentioned requires files from RootzWiki.

1. ACMEInstaller
2. CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 0.5 for HP TouchPad
3. update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip
4. moboot_0.3.5.zip
5. gApps 4.0.3 11.12.22.zip from here

Procedure

1-   You need to make sure that java is installed on your computer. If not then download it from here

2-   Download and install Palm Novacom software from here and make sure you know where installation files and directory is located on your computer. Once again it will only work if java is properly installed on your computer.

3-   Copy the downloaded ACMEInstaller file and paste it in the same directory where Novacom files are located.

4-   Now plugin your HP Touchpad with computer through USB Cable and select USB drive mode which will display it as removable drive on your computer.

5-   Launch file explorer and navigate to the HP Touchpad drive, Create a folder named as cminstall and copy/paste all below mentioned downloaded files into the newly created directory.

4. gApps 4.0.3 11.12.22.zip from here

6-   Restart your HP TouchPad by pressing home button>Settings tab>Device Info>Reset Options>Restar

7-   As soon as your HP TouchPad screen turns black, press the volume up button until a big USB icon is showed on your screen and then wait for the drivers installation.

8-   Perform following steps on your computer in order to run ACMEInstaller.

1. Launch command prompt[DOS Window]
2. Navigate to the Novacom directory with help of ‘cd’ command
3. Once you are in the Novacom directory, type following command “novacom.exe boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2” without quotes.
4. Wait till you get an option to boot into Moboot. You can select with help of Up and Down keys to either boot into CyanogenMod or WebOS and then press the Home Button.

9-   Finally follow the steps to use ClockworkMod in order to install the gApps zip on your HP TouchPad.

1. Copy/Paste the gApps.zip file in TouchPad storage root directory.
2. Reboot HP TouchPad by Pressing andhold the power button.
3. Choose ClockworkMod from the Moboot menu, .
4. Navigate to the option install a zip from SDcard and press the home button to select.
5. Select gApps.zip using Up and Down Keys.
6. Select yes.
7. After installation, reboot into CyanogenMod.

Thats it!!!! your HP Touchpad is now running CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 0.5
