HP TouchPad Android 2.2.1 Ported Video Revealed

Couple of days ago you might have come across a news that HP has officially dumped WebOS and has put HP TouchPad on 99$ Clearance Sale. HP TouchPad had a decent Specs with 1.2 Dual Core Snapdragon processor and 512 MB RAM therefore it sold out like fire and within few Hours on 20th August 2011 it was out of stock at all major stores. The only drawback in 99$ Clearance TouchPad was discontinued WebOS. However only couple of days have passed and a Video has popped up showing Android 2.2.1 ported out on HP TouchPad.

Although i first thought of it as for fun but the authenticity of the video below makes me feel that its not a video remake only. The Video shows that HP TouchPad is still wrapped in new packing and running modified version of Android 2.2.1. Some of the things to be noted in Video below are,

  • The build for Android Shows the code name “Topaz” for TouchPad
  • On the startup Quic logo is displayed Qualcomm Innovation Center which produces dual core processors and develops open source Android firmwares

It appears that its a functional prototype of HP TouchPad running Android 2.2.1. Moreover may websites are claiming that Android 2.3 Gingerbread Port for HP TouchPad will be released this week for which all TouchPad users can keep their fingers crossed as it will be a huge treat to have 99$ HP Tablet running Gingerbread.
