How To Install Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM With “Face Unlock” Feature On Nexus S [Tutorial]

Recently we shared a tutorial, allowing users to upgrade their Nexus S devices to official Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. But now developer has released another Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich custom ROM which also includes famous “Face Unlock” feature . You can follow the below mentioned guide on how to flash this ROM on your devices.

This below mentioned tutorial will only work on GSM based Nexus S handset whereas for CDMA users follow the official thread here for instructions.

Whats Needed

1-   Before start flashing the ROM, you need to make sure that your devices is rooted and have  ClockworkMod Recovery installed on it along with enough memory to save all required files.

2-  Download Following Zip files and Transfer all of them directly under /sdcard directory (Root Directory) on your Nexus S. Make sure you don’t extract them.

• Download GSM Nexus S Android 4.0.3 ICS Stock ROM from here.
• Download Google Apps from here.
• Download SuperUser from here.
• Download Tweaked boot image and kernel from here.
• Download Face Unlock from here.

3-   Switch your device off and Turn it on again by holding Volume Down + Power buttons in order to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.

4-   Now you need to take a nandroid backup by going to “backup & restore > restore” option. It will be required if have decided to revert back to old set up.

5-   Choose from main menu to wipe data/factory reset.

6-   Now you need to flash previously downloaded files one by one by following the same order mentioned below.

• GSM Nexus S Android 4.0.3 ICS ROM.
• Google Apps
• SuperUser
• Face Unlock

7-   After the completion of step 6, you need to reboot your device by selecting “reboot system now” option from the main menu.

8-   Now you need to follow the step 3 again which will take your device in your ClockworkMod Recovery. Now flash the tweaked boot image+kernel by going to “install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card” and select the exact .Zip file you transferred in step 2.

9-   Restart your device again and Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich with Face Unlock feature will be installed on your Google Nexus S handset.
