CyanogenMod is one of the most popular Custom Android Developer so far playing an important role in distribution of customized Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) ROM in order to enhance capabilities of your phone. One of the most awaited announcement has come at right time from CyanogenMod Team when first Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 enabled Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone launch is just around the corner.
The CyanogenMod Team has announced through twitter that they have already started working on CyanogenMod 9 which will ultimately bring Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 on all supported devices. Not only they have confirmed working on CyanogenMod 9 but also said to be available in 2 months time, keeping in view that ICS source code has already been released by Google.
Therefore, it means devices will be getting the taste of Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 based CyanogenMod 9 by January this time. Whereas CyanogenMod 8 which was suppose to be based on Honeybomb may not appear anytime soon as Google has not released the Honeyomb source code yet.
