Google Maps 5.9 Updated – Adds Transit Notifications, Tablet Support and Bubble Buttons for Android

Google has recently updated its famous Free Maps & Navigation application Google Maps for Android to Google Maps 5.9 version while bringing major improvements in transit navigation supporting custom notifications for different cities as well as new labs features. Transit navigation support has also been extended to support Android tablets. Bubble Button is back which was pulled off from some of the last releases which allows to call and get directions from a result bubble on the Map.

Google Maps 5.9 brings following major additions & improvements,

  • Voice and ring tone notifications for Transit Navigation (Beta)
  • Tablet support for Transit Navigation (Beta)
  • ‘Bubble Buttons’ Lab to add call and navigate buttons to results on the map (see above)

When you have installed the update navigate to Menu > More > Labs and goto Bubble Button below to turn it on. Bubble Button will enable you to directly access the location from Pop-up rather than going to the main page hence improving the speed.
