CyanogenMod 7.1 Released, Android 2.3.7 and More Devices included, Download Now

Recently we reported you about next major release of CyanogenMod which will bring support for multiple Sony Ericsson devices. Today CyanogenMod Team has released the new version 7.1 which has brought Android 2.3.7 along with addition of two dozen more devices. Newly supported devices includes as promised Sony Ericsson Xperia series.

It’s been far too long since our last official release, but I’m happy to present CyanogenMod-7.1! I apologize for the long delay, and I hope to speed up our release process in the future. We originally planned to release this last weekend at the Big Android BBQ but some issues with our automated build system held it back.

Prerequisites

Download CyanogenMod 7.1 Zip file from here by making sure that that the file is for your device. You can also check your device’s codename from here.

Procedure

1-   Connect your phone with computer via USB cable and Transfer the above mentioned downloaded .zip file to the root directory of your smartphone.

2-   As soon as the file transfer is completed, Turn off your smartphone.

3-   Boot your smartphone into ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) with help of certain keys depending upon your device type.

4-   Navigate to backup and storage with help of volume up/down, home and back keys. Click on backup and CWM will take nandroid backup of your device. This backup can also be used to revert to current setup.

5-   Now you need to format your smartphone by scrolling down to mounts and storage option and choose format /system. Make sure you also format /data and /cache and lastely wipe data / factory reset.

6-   Now go back to main menu and choose Install .zip from sdcard > [Downloaded Zip File]. It will start the installation

7-   Once installation is finish, reboot your smartphone using reboot option present in CWM’s main menu.
