You must have already heard about HTC Salsa and ChaCha handsets brought dedicated Facebook buttons with customized HTC Sense UI running on Android 2.4 operating system. Now reports are coming that an official Facebook handset cadename “HTC Buffy” is in works and will join the smartphone market in a year or so.
News has come from AllThingsD that Facebook has been aggressively planning to join the smartphone market in a year time. Not only this, Facebook has already partnered with HTC to who design the phone for them. HTC Buffy will be deeply integrated with Facebook core services and possibly run special modified version of Android operating system. A Facebook spokesman who told AllThingsD:
Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social. We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world.
However, both HTC and Facebook have decline to comment on this statement. Moreover, AllThingsD also mentions that will phone will support the HTML 5 platform for applications and potentially be available at stores sometime between next 12-18 months.
