LG’s G5 Flagship First Modular Smartphone Hands On Specs, Features & Review

Currently,following the commencement of the Mobile World Congress 2016,in Barcelona,LG has introduced it’s new flagship smartphone – the LG G5 ,which has many interesting features including a new modular design,some awesome specs in addition to a variety of different accessories ,for example a rolling robot camera ball with a 360 degree camera ,as well as a virtual reality headset.

The LG G5 features an impressive  Snapdragon 820 processor (similar to many smartphones released this year),in addition to 4GB RAM.The phone is said to have a 5.3 inch screen and resolution of 554 PPI ,thereby making this phone slightly smaller than the LG G3 and G4 ,however it has the same resolution.The phone is light and smooth to touch.

Design

Similar to the iPhone new design ,the LG G5 is said to feature a flat,rounded and all metallic unibody ,thereby resembling the Nexus 6P,however due to its “New Modular Type” design the user can remove and change batteries ,similar to an enlarged SIM card holder,which is not usually possible with this design.In addition this allows the user to change functions of this specific smartphone.

Other Module features

Following competition between various smartphone companies to feature more variety than others,LG’s modular features might differentiate it from other companies.

The LG G5 features a camera module that adds extra camera functions,for example buttons for shutter ,zoom,power,record,in addition to a LED indicator and an additional 1,200mAh of battery and one- handed zoom control.

Hi-Fi audio capabilities are enhanced by the addition of the LG Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play ,which can also alternate separately as a portable Hi-Fi Player.This module enables 32-bit 384kHz HD playback and an additional 32-bit Hi-Fi DAC upsampling technology.

Accessories that have been approved for the LG G5 ,The LG Friends,have been released which enable less hassle and more ease for the user.Included in these is a 360 – degree video and stills camera,a lightweight pair of VR goggles(LG 360 VR),which uses a USB –C connection,there is also a rolling bot that can also be used as a home security camera,and a drone controller.

The LG G5 features a 8 megapixel front camera, 16-megapixel rear dual-lens camera(optional 135mm wide-angle lens), an always-on display which will show date,time and important notifications(which has been reported by LG to use upto 0.8 % of battery power every hour)and brightness is controlled automatically according to lighting.In addition there is a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone ,a USB Type-C port and microSD slot.

There is still no release date or price as yet for the LG G5,for which there are quite high expectations.
