An iPhone developer has recently discovered that applications registration contains signs of Dual Mode GSM & CDMA iPhone as reported by TechCrunch.
The logs show that the app has been briefly tested by a handful of people using what is almost certainly an iPhone 5, evidently running iOS 5, sporting two distinct sets of mobile network codes (MNC) / mobile country codes (MCC). Those codes can be used to uniquely identify mobile carriers.
There might be a chance that its Jailbroken iPhone containing fake Carrier application which is actually duplicating the Carriers when accessing the registration procedures of Appstore or Jailbreak applications.
If you look at the Apple sales figures you would come to know that Apple is pretty comfortable with sales and even ordering 56 Million Handsets before iPhone 5 launch which is a clear sign on its success. Keeping this in view its not pretty convincing that Apple is interested in development of Dual Mode iPhone as simply “Why would be a phone manufacturer develop Dual mode phone when it can sell potentially two phones!”
However the concept evolved from Chinese handsets and now the same has spread to Samsung, Nokia & LG Dual Mode Phones widely in use. So may be in years to come Apple may adopt Dual Mode production which is very less eminent from current Apple popularity.
