Facebook planning to compete iMessage and Blackberry Messenger using Free Universal Texting [Report]

Blackberry messaging operated through RIM servers located in United States along with third party messaging clients like WhatsApp and Viber have compelled device manufacturers to integrate unified messaging service of their own and following the same Apple has purportedly integrated the iMessage feature into their upcoming iOS 5 which is currently in Betas. So why should Facebook be left behind hence Facebook is planning to reach out to the masses who do not have expensive Smartphones at their Phone numbers. Currently Facebook Messenger supports the chat feature but its reach is limited to Fcebook users however now Facebook is reportedly working on integrating free text messaging to any number within Facebook chat as reported by iPhone Italia.

If the feature gets implemented it would enable us to chat no only with Facebook friends but with the Friends in your Phone’s Contact book even those who haven’t signed up at Facebook. However apparently it will contain Facebook number rather than your own number but the Facebook developers might come out with intuitive solution to use your own number in sending messages. It might come true one day as Facebook has been focusing too much on addition of new features rather the removal of Chat from Facebook iOS app and making it a separate Messenger Application is an example.
