Recently Nokia has announced its first 1 GHz Symbian Smartphone Nokia 500 which is very close to Nokia c5-03 as far as specs are concerned however Nokia 500 is packed with bunch of new features as well.
Its been a longtime since Nokia N95 8GB that we have not seen any glaring model of Nokia featuring Symbian may be due to which Nokia had been knocked out by Apple and Samsung in Smartphone market this year. Nokia 500 is Sybmian Anna device with 3.2″ Captive touch Screen with a resolution of 640 x 360. The device is equipped with 5 Mega Pixel Camera and supports HSDPA 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA 5.8 Mbps. In addition defacto standard wireless options including Wifi (less n), Bluetooth are present. GPS, Micro USB, Standard Audio Jack and 2GB internal memory along with MicroSD support are also available.
Back snap-on covers are also available for this model and the phone changes its wallpapers according to the color of back cover you put on. However the performance of the phone vis-a-vis 1 GHz processor is glaring as the shuttering effect is there on loading and updating Symbian apps.
Nokia 500 will be launched in 2 colors Black and White however 6 different color snap-on back covers will be avaialbe.
The best part is that this will be a mid range phone costing around 150 US$. So at this price such specs and configurations are a plus on the top of smartphone.
We will be having a close eye on Symbian development as its still Nokia’s major Smartphone OS.
