Apple has today officially announced the release of the 2016 MacBook Pro . There have been many reports over the speculated features , which have now been confirmed at the Cupertino Event which was solely dedicated to the latest hardware features that the MacBook Pro range will boast.
The greatest news for prospective buyers is that the MacBook Pro is open for orders as of today, and for those opting for the 13 inch MacBook Pro model sans Touch Bar and Touch ID is available for shipment as of today, but those opting for the 13 and 15 inch models that contain the Touch ID and Touch Bar option will have to wait for around 2 to 3 weeks.
2016 MacBook Pro features
The 2016 MacBook Pro range will be available in both a 13 and 15-inch option ,and both will contain the revolutionary design changes from the previous MacBook released last year with various additional features that truly give the “Pro” moniker something to boast about.
The 2016 model is lighter and slimmer than it’s former counterparts . The 13-inch MacBook Pro is said to be 23% lighter and 17% slimmer than it’s previous counterpart and the 15-inch version is 20% lighter and 14% slimmer than the previous generation MacBook Pro.
GPU and CPU features
The 2016 model is said to feature the 6th Generation Intel CPUs. With the 13 inch model ,the model contains both the i7 and i5 configurations in the best model boasting a 33.3 GHz dual -core Intel core i7 processor , a Turbo boost of 3.6GHz ,in addition to Intel Iris graphics that have twice the speed than the previous model. Memory is available in two options namely the 8GB and 16GB RAM in addition to SSD options that range from 256GB to 1TB,enabling the device to boast a speed that is 76% quicker at Graphic and video editing and 103% quicker while playing games.
The Top of the Range 15inch model features a 2.9GHz Quad Core Intel Core i7 Processor , with Turbo Boost of upto 3.8GHz , an AMD Radeon Pro 460 GPU with as much as 4GB VRAM, and additional 16GB RAM. This makes it the ultimate device for 3D Graphics , allowing for video editing to be 57% quicker, Gaming to be 60% quicker and Graphics being 130% quicker. The amazing 2TB SSD option is also available in the best model. It should be noted that the SSD s in the latest MacPros are 50% quicker than in the previous counterparts.
Touch ID Feature
This feature that is an integral part of all Apple iOS powered devices has now been introduced into the Macs. This allows the Touch ID Sensor, that has been incorporated into the Power button on the right side of the Touch Bar, to confirm and authenticate the user ID via biometrics . The Touch ID also allows for the Apple Pay option while using the web . The Touch ID sensor is encased in Sapphire crystal and contains in built Secure Enclave.
The Long Awaited Touch Bar Feature
This long awaited feature has been incorporated into the 2016 MacBook Pro , and is a touch Sensitive toolbar that is located on the top of the keyboard enabling the various function keys and shortcuts to be placed around for the best and most diverse experience.
Content and keys can be varied according to the context according to the first and third party applications that are being used , in addition to the customization option that is available. The Touch Bar comes with Retina display ,and allows for Multi-touch detection .
The 2016 MacBook Pro comes with Retina display, with many additional amendments. These include a 67% greater contrast ratio, 25% more varied colour diversity , and brightness has been enhanced by about 67% more in addition to the previous retina resolution as the previous models. It should be noted that these are the first Mac Notebooks to feature support for wide color gamut(P3).
The new MacBook Pro features the latest 2nd Generation Butterfly mechanism, in addition to each and every single key having it’s own individual LED Backlighting.
Thunderbolt 3 ⁄ USB Type C ⁄ Display ⁄VGA and HDMI port features
The USB type c port has been incorporated in both the 15 and 13 inch models, however the difference as in these models the ports are now Thunderbolt 3 supported contrary to presence in previous models. This allows for connection of HDMI ,Display Port, USB , Thunderbolt ,Power all to be connected via this single port.
There is also a new 13inch MacBook Pro model that has also been introduced that does not feature either the Touch ID and Touch Bar features, and this model only two of the four Thunderbolt 3 Ports.
The Battery Duration
Continuous Use of upto 10 hours ,after full recharge and complying with the ultimate functioning conditions, and a battery life of upto a “full Day” can be expected from the 2016 MacBook Pro model.
Twice the dynamic range compared to previous versions can be expected from the MacBook Pro 2016 models .
Greater Force Touch TrackPad Feature
The upgraded feature boasts twice the surface area than the feature in previous models ,allowing for more accurate input and communication than in previous models .The Force Touch TrackPad now comes in glass.
Greater Color Range
All the previous color options are available in the latest MacBook Pro in addition to the new Silver and Space Gray options.
