HP TouchPad Clearance Sale for 99$ as WebOS Officially Turned Down by HP

Major HP resellers have started offering Clearance Sale on HP TouchPad with a huge price reduction to 99US$ for HP TouchPad 16GB Model and 149US$ for HPTouchPad 32GB Model. It all happened just one day after HP has officially turned down WebOS development and discontinuation of TouchPad.

Earlier this month HP TouchPad 16GB and 32GB models were priced at 499US$ and 549US$ which was initially reduced by 100 US$ each however recently it has been reported that HP has officially sent  Memo to all its re sellers to further cut price by 300US$ as clearance sale. As per the Memo this price reduction is effective from today 20th Aug 2011 onwards till stocks last.

HP had acquired this business from Palm and turned their Palm OS development into WebOS last year however recently HP has planned to reduce high volume sales and move to enterprise software and services business development. Although HP TouchPad was not a major competitor in Tablet market but it could have certainly boosted Apple morale as their product iPad 2 could achieve even higher volumes after HP TouchPad is officially discarded. As many sales experts are reporting that Apple iPad has made tablet market tougher for others to even withstand non-iPad tablet sale.
