Earlier we reported you that Chronic Dev Team Received Over 10 Million Crash Reports through their Reporter program which was released last week. The main purpose of this program is find more exploit with the help of these crash report and ultimately develop an untethered jailbreaking method for iOS 5.x firmware. However, in the mean time another jailbreaking tool called Ac1dSn0w has been released by a Unix hacker which can be used to tethered jailbreak iOS 5 /5.0.1 firmwares on OS X Snow Leopard and Lion. Ac1dSn0w is currently supported for following devices running
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPod touch 4G
- original iPad
Ac1dSn0w is still in Beta phases and may not be as stable as iPhone Dev-Team’s Redsn0w for both Windows and Mac. Therefore, we prefer using more stable jailbreaking tool like Redsn0w instead of Ac1dSn0w .
1– Download Ac1dSn0w for Mac from here and open it.
2– Now connect your iDevice with computer using USB cable.
3– Turn your device off.
4– Click on Show Assistant option and then follow the instructions which will take your device into DFU Mode.
5– As soon as your device goes in DFU mode, just click on Jailbreak button shown on Ac1dSn0w.
5– It will perform required jailbreaking and your iDevice will restart.
6– Put your device again into DFU mode and perform Tethered Boot as shown on Ac1dSn0w.
7- Your device will now boot in tethered jailbroken mode and you will have Cydia installed on it.
As we have already mentioned that Ac1dSn0w gives tethered jailbreaking just like Redsn0w and Snowbreeze so you need to repeat step 6-7 in case your device is rebooted.
