Ever since the iPhone 4S has been launched by Apple number of users are reporting that iPhone 4S battery barely lasts for even one day which is even less than iPhone 4. However the specifications of iPhone 4S says some thing contrary to the performance therefore something within the software functionality is wrong which as been rightly spotted by iDb that Location Services Bug is the culprit.
It’s the Apple’s “Setting Time Zone” feature linked with Location Services Bug which kills the iPhone 4S’s battery,
It appears that iOS 5′s GM release introduced a bug that causes the Setting Time Zone function to keep the location tracking circuitry running constantly, draining battery power considerably. Switching it off may mean that your iPhone will no longer set its own time zone when you travel, but that’s a small price to pay for having your iPhone last more than 12 hours on a full charge. We have tested this method on 4 different iPhone 4s handsets, including an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 3GS. All have reported drastically improved battery life after switching ‘Setting Time Zone’ off.
You can simply access the Settings menu on your iPhone 4S and goto System Services > Location Services to switch Setting Time Zone to Off. This change significantly inceases the battery life which has been confiedm by many iPhone 4S users. You can stick to this method till Apple releases iOS 5 minor update.
