Find My Friends – New iCloud Feature Or Twitter Integration?

Find My Friends feature was spotted in the wild in iOS 4.3 beta but it was removed from the final iOS 4.3 release however recently the same code has been spotted in HTML 5 code in the iCloud website by 9 To 5 Mac.

The code contains something related to social networking integration into the coming iCloud service stated as,

From what we can glean from this HTML code, Apple’s Find my Friends service was definitely in development, and it takes some terminology cues from Twitter, which happens to also be fully integrated into the upcoming iOS 5 release. The service may even be similar to a recent patent filing by Apple that is shown above. According to the code, users will be able to select other users to “follow.” Once a user “follows” another user, they will gain access to information about the user besides their location. Apple would presumably create profiles – maybe similar to Game Center – based on Apple IDs. Because the terminology is so similar to Twitter’s, perhaps Apple’s Find my Friends integrates with a Twitter login.

Interesting bulk of iCloud website Code,

Now from this code it may be a new service being launched to link with friends using iOS 5 or it may turn as Twitter deep integration at iOS level. As twitter integration has already been announced in iOS 5 Beta which may be for integrated at each Application level e.g. allowing you to tweet directly from Messages, Mail, YouTube, Calender Applications.
