It was all started when Blackberry launched its native Blackberry Messenger(BBM) services which provides free messaging services between all blackberry devices over the internet. BBM service turned out to be successful and become so much popular among all blackberry users. This made other mobile manufacturer convinced to introduce similar kind of services. As a result of that recently Apple’s has recently launched iMessage service integrated in latest iOS 5 and support on all iOS devices. iMessage allows you to send free of cost text messages between iOS devices over the internet.
After Blackberry and Apple, Samsung has also launched their native messenger service with a name called ChatOn. Service was initially announced by Samsung during WWDC held back in Aug 2011.
