Yesterday, a developer named Chris Wade announced a jailbreak tool for Blackberry Playbook OS called DingleBerry. This owesome jailbreaking tool allows blackberry playbook users to run iOS like unofficial custom scripts and get their devices free from the helm of AppStore only Applications and Games. Technically, jailbreak was made possible by an exploit found in the backups taken through blackberry desktop manager. These backups are not digitally signed which ultimately allows custom modifications insmb.conf. These modifications can then be executed as part of the script as root whenever smb connection is done therefore the device allows to run any kind of custom scripts, applications and games.
Today, in a quick response RIM has released an update for Blackberry Playbook OS in order to to patch the exploit which was actually allowing unauthorized applications. Therefore, who want to keep their devices jailbroken were warrned from upgrading their Blackberry Playbook OS. However, blackberry termed this jailbreaking app as security risk as it could end up losing official BlackBerry Market stuff specially enterprise business users.
