Acer Iconia A500 was announced in February 2011 and launched in April 2011 is a 1 GHz Dual Core CPU, 1GB RAM 10.1″ Android Tablet with Android OS v3.0 (Honeycomb). We had been listening for Android v3.2 Honeycomb update for the Acer Iconia A500 which was promised for 25th August but it never showed, and we feel like Acer haven’t left us out in the cold instead going public on why the date slipped.
News Posting on the Acer Malaysia Facebook page, says that the update now looks set to be released on September 10th. It has been learned in the past that Acer update has been suffering some issues with the GPS settings, however folks at all major Tablet forums are recommending that it would have been better that update is released with bugs and they are removed in minor updates rather than such long wait.
Some the major features of Android v3.2 Honeycomb update include,
- Optimization for a wide range of screen sizes and Application access
- New “zoom-to-fill” screen using compatibility mode
- Capability to load media files directly from the SD card
- Extended screen support API which provides developers with more precise control over the UI
Android updates are always welcome, however we expect that this time Acer Iconia A500 Android v3.2 Honeycomb update would be hitting the shelves very soon.
